Grief Planting

A memorial garden is a space created in honour of a loved one. A living legacy and a tangible reminder for the departed. A place to retreat, reflect and remember. Nurturing a garden in memory of a loved one is a continuance of love for that person.   

Grief planting is the act of planting seeds, nurturing and watching them grow. Caring for living things can give those experiencing loss a sense of purpose, a reason to get out of bed and face a new day. Gardening helps us return to nature, keeps us grounded and immersed in the present moment. Working with the seasons and experiencing the life cycle within the natural world is beneficial during times of grief, when feelings of helplessness and despair can be overwhelming.

Over time, the garden will evolve and change, as does our journey with grief. As the seeds grow and bloom into flowers, they become a symbol of resilience and strength. While grief is a deeply personal and painful experience, finding solace in the garden can provide a path towards healing and the ability to find joy again after loss.
